Teaching

My teaching focus has been transdisciplinary, covering geopolitics, political theory, and IR. I have contributed to and coordinated a raft of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, on topics such as International Security, Foreign Policy Analysis, IR Theory, Geopolitics, Human Rights, and New Zealand and American Politics. I have also designed and delivered research-grounded courses on Secession and Self-Determination.

Over the years, I have accumulated experience in educational design, course development and administration, and assessment strategies – both online and in-class. I pride myself on my approachability, attention to student (pastoral) needs, and course structuring. These evaluations present me as a helpful and encouraging supervisor and mentor for both undergraduate and post-graduate students. To further cultivate my teaching abilities, I will receive my (Dutch) University Teaching Qualification Registration in Summer 2022.

I firmly believe that teaching constitutes a reciprocal and collective effort, both with students and with academic colleagues. In light of this, in each of my university workplaces, I have enjoyed collectively reflecting on best teaching and learning practices.
